Fall Inspirations

Nudes and Brights ala Marc Jacobs
Always a sucker for pouffy skirts and tights. Perfect for school days..
My new obsession over the knee killer boots
Reinventing my summer clothes by wearing fur over and tights under.
And for days I have to spend with practical adults..HA!

Polly Rae

Burlesque dancer Polly Rae has something very endearing about her. Her performances are usually light and comedic a sort of cabernet burlesque versus to Dita's always va va voom and mysterious numbers. Every burlesque dancer usually have their own style but no one has made it big as Dita has every since the great Sally Rand of 1930 to 40's. But that doesn't mean that performers like Polly Rae is less amazing in fact she had an amazing show at Leicester Square Theatre early this month. So it makes me so giddy to discover that the underground world of Burlesque is slowly making its way in to main stream market but I'm fearful that the originality of it might get tainted. Anyhow, check out the quirky and adorable performance of Polly Rae and the Hurly Burly girls performing "Lovin' Spree".

Sui arriving at the House of Target

I am a big big fan of Anna Sui. Although glam style is always what I desire in my life, my personal style is always going to be a bit of a boho chic I just think that it suits me well more than anything, and this is how Anna Sui enters my life. I can't afford pieces from her house that is why I am so excited about the line she's created for Target (launch 9/13-10/17). I am a bit disappointed of the Gossip Girl inspiration but I am envisioning the deconstruction of the ensembles and mixing it up to what is already in my closet..

Alice in Wonderland

I haven't seen Alice in Wonderland ever since I first saw it as a little kid. I remember being so freaked out by it that I deliberately avoided the film every time someone mentioned it. It's not that I didn't like it but the feeling of lost, and uncertainty still lingers in my veins and that bunny with the clock just haunts me to this day. But I think it's time for me to face my fear and watch the new version of Alice in Wonderland. It looks very cool and ofcourse being a big fan of Johnny Depp gives me the courage to face the ticking clock and the Mad Hatter.

Dita in Avalon LA

Le Bain

I am lucky this year as I got to see her perform twice in Seattle back in April and just last week in LA. Her show is special to me as she performs her Crazy Horse act Le Bain (This video) for the first time in LA. The highlight of the show is the debut of her most wonderful, most flawless, most ferocious act Opium Den - in which she comes out of a giant Opium Den dressed in Kimono glazed in the most sparkling crystals I've ever seen in my life!! Truly a magnificent act.

Downtown San Diego

I spent 3 days in San Diego after my trip to LA. I go here every year to attend the San Diego Comicon and I just fall in love with this place everytime!. Every year I stay at the Grand Hyatt downtown they have an awesome view of their pool and downtown. And of course my favorite breakfast place Buster's Beach House located at the Marina right next door of the hotel is to die for. It always reminds me of being in Hawaii with the island music they play and the outdoor seating area they have. And of course the yummy food, my favorite is their skillets!

1. Downtown view from my room
2. Pool view
3. Marina across Buster's Beach House
4. View from where I was seated in the restaurant

Tease for Ease

I adore this free people super sequined dress I bought for the Dita Von Teese show in LA last July-22. I paired it with a top with an awesome stud detailing on the sleeve.

Hussein Chalayan

My view in the world of fashion has changed ever since I saw a show of Hussein Chalayan's 2007 spring collection. It was the first time I ever saw designs using technology yet keeping the soft and ethereal that is perfect for any spring collection. Check out the white Victorian dress that morphs into an angelic 1920's dress and pay perfect attention to timeline 3.11 particularly the metamorphosis of the hat. Love the nude color dress turned Gatsby inspired flapper dress.

Kill a Lady by Paparazzi

Awesome video and possibly one of my favorites. Check out Lady Gaga's new video of her song Paparazzi. Love the mini surrealism and her outrageously fab ensembles..I mean the hot Thierry Mugler hand hardware and everything, everything else doesn't disappoint. Just have to mention my favorite yellow get up paired with dark black round glasses and black geisha lips. Oh did I mention my favorite vampire Alexander Skarsgard Gaga's off and on screen lover is in this video. A huge middle finger with a large dose of glam..

L’Après-Midi

When it comes to homes, I prefer french country, florals, whites, etc. Soft corners, light and airy. It's just much more relaxing that way and I like the feeling of navigating through a fields of greens and flowers when really I'm just bumming around at home. I saw this pics from W's L'Apres-Midi featuring flirty dresses and caftans and I just loved the juxtapose of women and flirty floral background. The idea of hanging around girlfriends for a girl talk or having a fab alone moment wearing leopard YSL booties is possibly the best way to capture the epitome of being a woman..

The Hermitage Nashville, TN

We drove to Nashville from Indiana for a plan that eventually turned sour (at least in the morning). Luckily I have passion for Historical homes not only for the historical aspect of it but also to feel how people from the past live their lives through the furniture of their homes and the land they kept. We drove for 20 minutes from Third Man Records and headed towards former President Andrew Jackson home (7th president of United States) The Hermitage. Andrew Jackson played a significant role in our history for he after all started the Democratic Party. Although he is known to be a war hero and the "peoples president" Andrew Jackson was a supporter of slavery and kept over 150 slaves at The Hermitage. "National Historic Landmark – mirrors many stories in American history. These stories of Indians, white men moving west, slavery and freedom, the changing roles of women, religion and reform, and fortunes made from cotton are the stories of Jacksonian America" - The hermitage.com In the pictures I've taken you can still see A. Jackson's home before he built The Hermitage and how he converted his former home into a slaves house after moving to the mansion.

Beyond long hair and hot bod..

My opinion about true beauty exceeds far beyond just having a long hair or sexy body. A beautiful woman must have elegance, confidence, and lots and lots of mystery. It is disappointing to hear someone say that the reason why a woman is attractive is simply because of their hair or their body and not at all the aura a woman exudes.  Here are some pictures of women who I think possess everything that deserves all the great admiration. (1. Carolina Herrera, 1974 2. Jean Seberg 3. Sofia Coppola)
